Balakumar Paramalingam, like Loya, was born in the Indian Ocean. Both grew up attending
their
grandfathers’ temples several times a week and were introduced to Hinduism. The sounds,
smells and intense colors of the Tamil ceremonies deeply influenced all their senses. Both
of them arrived in Europe and were introduced to the instruments they would later master.
